Overview
We are working with a fast-paced commercial services organisation seeking an experienced Payroll Clerk to join their finance team. This role is ideally suited to someone who thrives in a high-volume environment and can deliver accurate payroll processing within tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Processing end-to-end payroll for a large workforce (weekly/monthly)
Ensuring accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
Managing high-volume timesheet data and resolving discrepancies
Submitting RTI reports and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations
Administering statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
Handling pension contributions and auto-enrolment processes
Reconciling payroll reports and assisting with month-end processes
Responding to payroll queries from employees and management in a timely manner
Maintaining strict confidentiality of payroll information
Supporting payroll system updates and process improvements
Key Requirements
Proven experience in payroll within a high-volume or commercial environment
Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Sage, ADP, or similar)
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to handle queries professionally
