An established and growing specialist accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join its expanding outsourcing team.

Working with a broad portfolio of clients across sectors including rural businesses, landed estates, property, renewable energy and privately owned enterprises, this role offers genuine variety and the opportunity to work closely with business owners and management teams.

This position is ideal for a practice-trained accountant who enjoys building client relationships, taking ownership of work and helping businesses improve their financial performance.

The Role

As part of a collaborative outsourcing team, you'll support a diverse client base with a mixture of management accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and advisory services.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and reviewing management accounts
• Producing budget vs actual reporting and forecasts
• Reviewing work completed by junior team members
• Supporting and developing junior colleagues
• Reviewing payroll processes and submissions
• Maintaining accurate accounting records
• Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
• Supporting clients in improving financial processes and controls
• Providing interim Financial Controller support when required
• Working closely with clients to provide insight and practical financial guidance

About You

We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded accountant who enjoys working with a range of businesses and building strong client relationships.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience preparing management accounts
• Strong bookkeeping and VAT return experience
• Payroll knowledge and experience
• Ability to analyse financial information and provide meaningful insights
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Confidence working directly with clients

Desirable

• AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or studying)
• Previous experience gained within an accountancy practice
• Experience using Xero, Sage and other cloud accounting software
• Good working knowledge of VAT
• An interest in sectors such as property, rural businesses, estates or renewable energy
