Overview

An established property management company with a diverse UK portfolio is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Lawyer to join its in-house legal function.

This is a broad and hands-on role supporting a range of residential, commercial, and mixed-use assets. The position offers exposure to transactional real estate work, landlord and tenant matters, and contentious issues, working closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on a wide range of commercial and residential property matters, including acquisitions and disposals (asset and corporate), leasing, and development projects.
  • Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing commercial leases, agreements for lease, licences, deeds of variation, and related documentation.
  • Managing contentious property matters, including landlord and tenant disputes, working with external counsel where required and ensuring matters are handled efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Supporting the business on property-related litigation strategy, risk assessment, and dispute resolution.
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial and supplier contracts connected to the property portfolio.
  • Providing clear, pragmatic legal advice to non-legal stakeholders, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
  • Managing external advisers and contributing to continuous improvement of internal legal processes.
  • Handling ad hoc legal matters as required within a small, collaborative in-house team.

Experience & Qualifications

  • UK-qualified solicitor with significant post-qualification experience in commercial real estate, either in-house or in private practice.
  • Strong background in commercial leasing and landlord & tenant work.
  • Experience handling or overseeing property-related disputes or litigation.
  • Exposure to acquisitions, disposals, and development projects is essential.
  • Experience within a property investment, asset management, or real estate-led business is highly desirable.
  • Hotel or leisure sector property experience is beneficial but not essential.
