Join our dedicated team as a Learning Support Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our learners' educational and personal development.

Day-to-day of the role:

Provide person-centred support to learners with a range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties and disabilities.

Enable learners to access and achieve within their programmes and engage with College services and activities.

Support the development of learning/study skills and outcomes identified in their Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).

Work with individuals or small groups, adapting your style to meet diverse needs and encouraging learners to develop independence where possible.

Assist learners with personal care or mobility needs, ensuring sensitivity, respect, and dignity at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Strong literacy and numeracy skills.

Ability to build positive, trust-based relationships with learners, staff, parents/carers, and professionals.

Experience of working in a multicultural community.

Clear understanding of safeguarding, discrimination, and the barriers faced by learners with additional needs.

Confidence in supporting learners with personal care and mobility needs.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Good organisational skills, reliable IT abilities, and sound administrative practice.

Adaptable, solution-focused, and able to respond to changing needs throughout the day.

Experience of working with SEN learners in a secondary or further education setting is desirable.

Must hold an enhanced DBS check issued within the last 3 years.
