We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Teacher to join our team, working with a Year 5/6 class on a part-time basis (2 days per week) from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher with strong Year 6 expertise, particularly in preparing pupils for the transition to secondary school and statutory assessments.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons in line with the KS2 National Curriculum
Teach a mixed Year 5/6 class, ensuring high expectations for all learners
Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Year 6 curriculum and SATs preparation
Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs
Provide targeted support to ensure all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL, make good progress
Manage classroom behaviour effectively, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development and pupil outcomes
Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Proven experience teaching in Year 6
Strong understanding of KS2 curriculum and assessment requirements
Experience of preparing pupils for SATs
Excellent classroom management skills
Ability to differentiate learning to meet a range of needs
Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable Criteria
Experience teaching in mixed-age classes (Year 5/6)
Knowledge of intervention strategies to support pupil progress
Experience working as part of a collaborative teaching team
