Kitchen Assistant
Annual Salary: £13.20- £15p/h all inclusive
Location: London
Job Type: Part-time, Term-time (25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year plus a minimum of three additional days)
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our college catering team. This role is ideal for someone with some kitchen experience, though training for a Level 2 Food Safety certificate can be provided. Under the guidance of the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring high standards of food production and cleanliness.
Day-to-day of the role:
Assist in the daily production and serving of food while adhering to legal and college standards.
Accept and check deliveries under the direction of the Head Chef, ensuring all items are stored correctly.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen, adhering to all college policies and legal requirements.
Assist with the packaging and labelling of foods for various catering outlets.
Ensure minimal food wastage and maintain kitchen equipment, including the dishwasher, to high standards.
Follow kitchen cleaning schedules and closing down procedures to maintain hygiene and safety.
Occasionally assist with Front of House duties, including the preparation and operation of servery counters and checking deliveries.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Some experience in a commercial kitchen preferred.
Must hold or be willing to train for a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team.
