IT Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Specialist at a leading UK manufacturing company. This role is crucial for assisting in the procurement, installation, implementation, training, updating, and support of the company’s IT hardware, software, communication systems, and utilities. Additionally, the IT Specialist will contribute to business intelligence (BI), data analytics, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support operational decision-making.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Receive, prioritize, and execute help-desk requests; escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Provide end-user support and training on hardware, software, BI dashboards, and AI-assisted tools.
  • Assist with the company's IT network and hardware infrastructure including basic troubleshooting, equipment setup, and routine maintenance, escalating complex issues to the IT Director or vendors.
  • Design, build, and maintain BI reports and dashboards (Tableau, Power BI, or similar) to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Assist with the implementation and support of AI and automation tools, including workflow automation, intelligent document processing, and predictive analytics.
  • Assist with data integration, ETL, and data quality initiatives across ERP and ancillary systems to ensure accurate and timely information for BI and AI workloads.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and with IT leadership across the wider group of companies on shared initiatives, standards, and cross-entity integrations.
  • Follow and help enforce the company's disaster recovery, business continuity, and cybersecurity policies, and flag gaps or risks to the IT Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by the IT Director.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in IT support and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience with AI and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with data integration, ETL processes, and data quality management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain IT network and hardware infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to train non-technical users.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
