Salary: £300 - £400 per day (inside IR35, via Umbrella)
Location: Hybrid 2 days a month in office (Cardiff base)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Capital Accountant to join our Finance Operations team on a temporary basis to provide cover. This role is based in Cardiff with hybrid working options available. The successful candidate will be part of the Capital and Leasing team, focusing on Capital accounting and contributing to the maintenance and accuracy of financial records.
Day-to-day of the role:
Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including updates to locations, asset owners, disposals, write-offs, and impairments.
Conduct Aged AUC reviews and depreciation reviews to ensure charges are correctly allocated and values are accurate.
Perform asset verification through physical site visits or virtual meetings to confirm ongoing asset usage.
Undertake impairment reviews of assets.
Attend Project Review Meetings and provide subject matter expertise on accounting treatment.
Contribute to reporting processes to ensure financial positions and performances are accurately understood and key issues are addressed.
Manage the recording of transactions in the ERP general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Support the delivery of internal and external audits, including preparation for annual reports and other external reporting requirements.
Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders, including outsourced partners and other finance teams.
Document and implement accounting judgments in line with policy and standards.
Compile and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Significant experience in a high-quality accounting service environment.
Experience in capital project accounting within a capital accounting team is highly beneficial.
Highly developed communication skills with the ability to influence and clearly communicate complex data.
Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise workload.
