We are working with a well-regarded public sector organisation seeking an experienced Housing Lawyer to join their legal team on an initial 3-month contract.
This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, providing practical, solution-focused legal advice across a broad range of housing matters, while managing your own caseload and undertaking advocacy where required.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to officers on a range of housing law matters
Manage a busy and diverse caseload, including:
Housing disrepair
Possession proceedings
Anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases
Undertake advocacy in both the County Court and Magistrates’ Court as required
Support the wider legal team with proactive, commercially aware guidance
Work independently while maintaining strong communication with key stakeholders
About You
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive (or equivalent experience)
Strong experience in housing law, particularly:
Disrepair claims
Possessions
ASB matters
Confident advocate with prior court experience
Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, solution-led advice
Able to manage a high-volume caseload autonomously
Proactive, organised, and comfortable working with minimal supervision
Working Arrangements
Hybrid role with flexible remote working
Attendance required at least once per fortnight
Willingness to attend court in person when required
