Housing Lawyer (3-Month Contract) – Hybrid Working

Location: Hybrid (with occasional office attendance)
Contract: 3 months (initial) - Hourly Rate 
Start: ASAP

The Opportunity

We are working with a well-regarded public sector organisation seeking an experienced Housing Lawyer to join their legal team on an initial 3-month contract.

This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, providing practical, solution-focused legal advice across a broad range of housing matters, while managing your own caseload and undertaking advocacy where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to officers on a range of housing law matters
  • Manage a busy and diverse caseload, including:
    • Housing disrepair
    • Possession proceedings
    • Anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases
  • Undertake advocacy in both the County Court and Magistrates’ Court as required
  • Support the wider legal team with proactive, commercially aware guidance
  • Work independently while maintaining strong communication with key stakeholders

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong experience in housing law, particularly:
    • Disrepair claims
    • Possessions
    • ASB matters
  • Confident advocate with prior court experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, solution-led advice
  • Able to manage a high-volume caseload autonomously
  • Proactive, organised, and comfortable working with minimal supervision

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid role with flexible remote working
  • Attendance required at least once per fortnight
  • Willingness to attend court in person when required
