We are currently recruiting for a Front of House / Reception Officer to join a busy local authority in Berkshire on a 4-month temporary contract. This is a key customer-facing role, acting as the first point of contact for visitors to the Town Hall, delivering a professional, welcoming, and efficient service.
Key Responsibilities
Reception & Customer Service
Act as the first point of contact for all visitors
Welcome and assist customers, elected members, contractors, and guests
Respond to face-to-face enquiries and signpost to relevant services
Handle queries professionally, including managing challenging situations
Facilities & Building Support
Monitor and coordinate meeting room and desk bookings
Liaise with facilities teams to ensure rooms are prepared correctly
Manage visitor access, issue badges, and maintain accurate logs
Support ID pass processes (including photos and pass creation)
Administration & Systems
Manage shared inboxes and booking calendars
Maintain clear and accurate records of requests and actions
Order office and facilities supplies and track deliveries
Support invoice processing by providing relevant information
Events & Civic Support
Assist with the coordination of civic events and formal meetings
Welcome guests, dignitaries, and event attendees
Ensure smooth running of events in collaboration with the facilities team
About You
Previous experience in reception, front of house, or customer service roles
Confident communicator with a professional and approachable manner
Strong organisational and administrative skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks
Experience using booking systems, Outlook/shared inboxes, or similar
A team player with a flexible and proactive approach
