Senior Finance Assistant

Location: Norwich
Contract: Temporary (initially 3 months)

Reed Accountancy Norwich are seeking a Senior Finance Assistant to join a busy and supportive finance team in Norwich on a temporary basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with a strong background in purchase ledger to step into a supervisory position.

Day-to-Day of the Role

  • Supervise the Purchase Ledger function and support the wider finance team.
  • Process and review purchase ledger transactions including invoices, purchase orders, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and approve payment runs ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and oversee monthly payment processes.
  • Manage supplier statement reconciliations and resolve queries.
  • Review and reconcile corporate credit card transactions.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor Finance Assistants, prioritising workloads and supporting development.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in purchase ledger and payments processing.
  • Strong background working in a busy finance environment.
  • Experience using computerised accounting systems.
  • Previous supervisory or mentoring experience.
  • AAT qualified (or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent numerical and organisational skills.
  • Confident using Excel and financial systems.
