Business Development Manager - Construction Sector

  • Location: South East London / Kent (Office in Orpington)
  • Job Type: Full-time, Temp to Perm (Monday to Friday)- 9am-5pm

We are seeking a driven and commercially focused Business Development Manager to expand our presence in the construction sector. This role is crucial for developing employer partnerships, identifying skills gaps, and creating opportunities for apprenticeships, training programmes, and workforce development solutions. It is ideal for someone with a robust understanding of the construction industry who thrives on building long-term employer relationships.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop and manage relationships with construction employers, ranging from SMEs to larger contractors.
  • Identify new business opportunities and convert leads into training partnerships.
  • Promote apprenticeship and training programmes that align with employer needs.
  • Collaborate closely with internal delivery teams to ensure a high-quality employer experience.
  • Manage a pipeline of opportunities, tracking progress and conversion rates.
  • Represent the organisation at industry events, networking groups, and employer forums.
  • Contribute to sector growth strategies and employer engagement plans.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or employer engagement within the construction sector.
  • Strong knowledge of the construction industry, including trades, contractors, and supply chains.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to identify employer needs and translate them into effective solutions.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and results-driven.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within apprenticeships, training, or further education.
  • Existing network within construction employers.
  • Understanding of funding or workforce development initiatives.
