We are seeking a Support & Payments / Business Support Officer to provide high-quality business support to Social Work staff within Fieldwork / Permanence & Throughcare Teams. This role is crucial in supporting services for children and families, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and in compliance with current legislation, regulations, and council guidance.
Day-to-day of the role:
Provide effective administrative and business support across the service.
Assist Social Work teams in maintaining and improving service delivery to children and families.
Handle telephone calls, respond to emails, and manage general enquiries.
Prepare, print, and post letters and documents.
Support meetings, including note-taking and recording actions.
Maintain and update information systems and records.
Process purchases of goods and services as required.
Offer information, advice, and support to colleagues and service users.
Handle mail, messages, and personal callers professionally.
Contribute to continuous improvement within the service.
Ensure all activities are carried out in line with council policies including safeguarding, equality, and health & safety.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience working in a busy office or administrative environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive working relationships.
High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Minimum Level 2 qualification (e.g., GCSEs including Maths & English or equivalent) or equivalent experience
