Part-Time Accountant

Location: Nottingham
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 FTE (pro rata)
Hours: Part-Time, Flexible

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a reliable and experienced Part-Time Accountant to join a well-established Nottingham-based business. This is a hands-on position offering responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance across the business.

The role would suit an experienced Accountant or Senior Bookkeeper who enjoys working autonomously and taking ownership of all aspects of the accounts process.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the full bookkeeping function.
• Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions.
• Maintaining accurate financial records.
• Completing bank reconciliations.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
• Credit control and cash flow monitoring.
• Producing monthly management accounts.
• Posting journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Balance sheet reconciliations.
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Preparing information for year-end accounts and liaising with external accountants.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and tax regulations.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Previous experience in a broad accounting role covering bookkeeping through to management accounts.
• Strong knowledge of VAT returns and HMRC requirements.
• Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero or QuickBooks.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Desirable

• Experience working within an SME environment.
• Payroll experience.
