Management accountants are highly sought after professionals who combine business management with financial and analytical expertise. CIMA provides the fundamental knowledge you need to build a successful career in business or finance. There are two stages to the qualification:
CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting
CIMA Professional Qualification

You’ll receive access to a dedicated Microsoft Teams platform, the study texts, revision questions and cards, course notes, online access to practice mock exams, and access to all class recordings so you can go over what we’ve learned at a time that’s convenient for you to consolidate learning and for revision.
What does your pathway to being CIMA-qualified look like?

The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting is designed to provide a stepping stone into a finance career for students with little to no accounting experience. The Certificate in Business Accounting syllabus teaches core business and finance skills beyond simple financial accounting.
The Certificate BA is a qualification in its own right, and is also a formal entry route into the CIMA Professional Qualification.
Over 12-18 months, you’ll study towards four objective tests:
Fundamentals of business economics – BA1
Fundamentals of management accounting – BA2
Fundamentals of financial accounting – BA3
Fundamentals of ethics, corporate governance and business law – BA4
The CIMA Professional Qualification is designed to produce competent and confident management accounting professionals who can guide and lead their organisations to sustainable success.
With a recently updated syllabus to reflect our increasing digital world, the CIMA Professional Qualification will give you an understanding of how digitalization and rapid technology development is creating challenges and opportunities for organisations.
The CIMA Professional Qualification involves 12 exams (nine Objective Tests and three Case Study exams), typically spread over 3-6 years. You will cover the following topics:
Operational level (CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting)
Managing finance in a digital world – E1
Management accounting – P1
Financial reporting and taxation – F1
Management level (CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting)
Managing performance – E2
Advanced management accounting – P2
Advanced financial reporting – F2
Strategic level
Strategic management – E3
Risk management – P3
Financial strategy – F3
What do you need to get started?
There are no entry requirements for the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, so you can start studying right now, with no degree necessary.
You’ll need a good understanding of both English and Maths (min GCSE Grade C or 4), and a passion to succeed in business.
If you have previous accounting experience, you may be eligible for exemptions from certain subjects or be able to move directly to the Professional level.
