ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is a leading global professional accounting body offering the ACCA qualification. It prepares individuals for careers in accounting, auditing, and finance through a series of exams, ethics training, and practical experience. ACCA members are recognised as qualified accountants both in the UK and internationally.
It typically takes around three to four years to achieve the ACCA qualification, depending on your experience and study pace. You will need to:
Pass 13 exams (some exemptions may apply) and an additional Ethics and Professional Skills module.
Gain three years of relevant work experience.

The ACCA qualification consists of 13 exams divided into three levels:
Applied Knowledge: 3 exams (fundamental concepts)
Applied Skills: 6 exams (intermediate topics)
Strategic Professional: 4 exams (advanced topics, including 2 compulsory and 2 optional papers)
Exemptions may apply based on prior qualifications. Learners will also undertake an ethics module before becoming fully qualified.
Yes, the ACCA qualification at the Professional level is considered equivalent to a Master's degree (Level 7 on the Regulated Qualifications Framework, RQF) due to its advanced level of technical knowledge, professional skills, and rigorous assessments.
The average UK salary for an ACCA-qualified accountant is approximately £50,000 per year.
Newly qualified accountants can expect starting salaries ranging from £35,000 to £42,000, particularly in London.
With increased experience and seniority, salaries can rise significantly, with senior roles earning up to £100,000 or more.
The ACCA qualification comprises multiple exams, each with varying pass rates. Based on Foundation results from June 2023, the total average pass rate was 78%. The Applied Knowledge paper average was 72.6% and Applied Skills papers’ overall average was 53.6%.
