Rochdale Council are looking for a dedicated Yard Operative to join our team for a three-month period. This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of our council facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure our outdoor spaces are well-maintained and safe.
Day-to-day of the role:
Conduct daily site walkarounds to monitor and maintain the yard's cleanliness and safety.
Perform litter picking, weed removal, leaf clearance during autumn and winter, and strimming and hedging as needed.
Manage gritting during cold periods to ensure safety on premises.
Carry out signage checks and ensure all signs are visible and in good condition.
Handle deliveries, monitor skips, and manage yard entries.
Keep track of wheelie bin stock, manage pallets, and process damaged bins.
Maintain cleanliness of sweepers and monitor brush wear.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Must hold a valid 7.5-ton driver’s license.
Experience in yard maintenance or a similar role is preferred.
Forklift truck licence is desirable but not essential.
Ability to perform physical tasks and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
