About the Role
London Council is seeking an experienced Rent Accounting & Finance Officer to join their housing finance team on an ongoing temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-performing service supporting residents and ensuring accurate rent accounting across mixed tenure housing stock.
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement and requires someone who can hit the ground running, delivering accurate financial administration and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Administer rent accounting processes with efficiency and accuracy, including:
Raising invoices
Producing and dispatching energy bills
Manage and update rent accounts for mixed tenure housing stock
Process rent debit changes, including:
Annual rent increases/decreases
Service charge adjustments
Water rate charges
Maintain and update the Housing Management System, including:
Lettings, voids, and tenancy amendments
Successions and mutual exchanges
Debit/credit adjustments and property updates
Ensure data integrity by liaising with internal teams (e.g. Housing Operations) and external stakeholders such as Housing Benefits
Provide comprehensive housing and financial administrative support to the wider housing service
Customer Service Focus
Deliver a high standard of customer service
Take ownership of queries and resolve issues effectively
Promote self-service options while supporting vulnerable customers
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience in rent accounting / housing finance within a local authority or housing association
Strong knowledge of housing management systems
Excellent attention to detail with financial data
Ability to manage high-volume workloads in a fast-paced environment
Confident communicator with strong customer service skills
