We are working with a well-established and growing advanced manufacturing business within the aerospace sector, seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join its leadership team.

This is a key appointment, responsible for driving quality excellence, maintaining compliance to aerospace standards, and leading a dedicated quality team within a fast-paced precision engineering environment.

As Senior Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of the Quality Management System and ongoing compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements. You will lead quality activities across the full product lifecycle, from new product introduction through to production and supplier management.

You will also act as a key interface between the business, customers, and external auditors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Manage and develop a team of Quality Engineers
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by developing inspection plans, control plans, and FAIRs (AS9102)
  • Guide and support APQP and PPAP processes
  • Approve supplier PPAP submissions and monitor supplier performance
  • Conduct supplier audits and drive supplier quality improvement
  • Lead root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone) and implement corrective/preventive actions
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturability and risk
  • Ensure full traceability and configuration control of aerospace components
  • Monitor and report KPIs such as scrap, rework, and yield
  • Support internal and external audits and management review processes

Essential Experience

  • Strong background in aerospace manufacturing quality assurance
  • In-depth knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality standards
  • Experience with inspection tools and techniques (CMM, gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Supplier quality and audit experience

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NADCAP processes
  • Experience working with major aerospace OEM requirements
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical ability
