About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance & Standards Officer to join a Local Authority in Brent on a long-term contract. This role is part of an ongoing requirement to support housing quality, compliance, and rent assurance across the borough.
You will play a key role in delivering a high-priority housing project focused on rent accuracy, affordability compliance, and valuation consistency across the housing stock.
Key Responsibilities (Initial Project Focus)
Undertake a full reconciliation of affordable rent agreements, ensuring compliance and accuracy
Confirm Greater London Authority (GLA) approvals for all affordable rent units
Review and assess service charges on affordable rented properties, removing or incorporating them into rent levels where appropriate
Investigate why certain London Affordable Rent (LAR) properties exceed prescribed rent levels, identifying root causes and implementing corrections
Conduct a detailed review of rents across 1,365 properties, identifying overcharges and establishing appropriate repayment/refund processes
Validate all rent levels and ensure compliance with relevant policy and frameworks
Review and standardise property valuation methodologies across the housing portfolio
Lead on valuation rationalisation across circa 7,500 properties, ensuring consistency prior to rent convergence modelling
Ongoing Responsibilities
Support quality assurance processes across housing services
Ensure compliance with housing regulations, rent standards, and internal policies
Provide robust data analysis and reporting to inform decision-making
Contribute to continuous improvement of housing standards and financial accuracy
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven experience in housing, rents, or property services within a local authority or housing association
Strong understanding of affordable rent models, LAR rates, and housing compliance frameworks
Experience reviewing service charges, rent structures, and property valuations
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify discrepancies
Knowledge of GLA requirements and approvals processes (desirable)
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage complex reconciliation exercises
