Bury Council are looking for a skilled and experienced Qualified Joiner to join our team for a temporary assignment focusing on voids-related works. This role requires a multi-skilled professional capable of handling a variety of tasks from core joinery to multiskilling duties, ensuring high standards of workmanship and customer service.
Day-to-day of the role:
Core Joinery Responsibilities:
Perform first and second fix joinery tasks including installation and repairs of doors, frames, skirting boards, architraves, and window and lock repairs.
Handle the installation and repair of kitchen units, worktops, and associated fixtures.
Conduct repairs and renewals of composite doors and UPVC windows.
Undertake carpentry-based maintenance tasks such as timber roofing, flooring repairs, boxing, and stud wall construction.
Multiskilling Duties:
Conduct minor alterations to pipework when fitting sink units, baths, and other plumbing fixtures.
Tile flat walls and perform re-grouting as necessary.
Carry out basic plumbing repairs and replacements such as unblocking pipes, changing taps, and adjusting ball valves.
Perform simple plaster patching, brickwork, and painting tasks.
Ensure all multiskilling tasks comply with health and safety standards.
Health & Safety Requirements:
Adhere to all safety guidelines including the use of PPE and safe operation of tools.
Maintain compliance with risk assessments and method statements.
Demonstrate asbestos awareness and take correct actions if suspected materials are found.
Customer Service & Communication:
Maintain clear and respectful communication with tenants regarding work schedules and requirements.
Ensure properties are left clean, tidy, and safe after work is completed.
Record detailed job notes and photos for documentation.
Quality Standards & Performance:
Deliver repairs that meet organizational quality standards and specifications.
Maintain productivity levels across all assigned tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent.
Full UK driving licence.
Proven experience in both joinery and basic plumbing tasks.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
