Principal Inclusive Economy and Communities Officer

Join our dynamic team at the Council’s Growth, Communities and Housing Service, part of the Place Directorate. We are seeking a Principal Inclusive Economy and Communities Officer to lead initiatives focusing on housing options, housing strategy, inclusive growth, and strategic planning. This role is crucial in delivering service provision that benefits Trafford’s residents and businesses and supports the Council’s corporate priorities.
Day-to-day of the role:
Lead a team of officers responsible for place-based working to support creating an inclusive economy by delivering opportunities which benefit the whole community.
Develop and implement a range of place-based projects including business support and growth, investment, employment and skills, and community development and regeneration.
Provide strong leadership, direction, and motivation, ensuring the team works in partnership with communities, partners, and businesses to deliver a successful place where people and businesses can reach their potential and address inequalities.
Engage with statutory partners to develop a strong and healthy Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector.
Work in partnership with key stakeholders to deliver place-based business support and growth, investment, employment and skills, and community development and regeneration.
Take a lead role in engaging, empowering, and enabling local communities to deliver initiatives in their area through effective communication, marketing, and use of social media.
Be accountable for the implementation and deliverables within the Trafford Inclusive Economy Delivery Plan.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Substantial experience in a related field, including working in partnership with a range of partners (e.g., Health, Local Authority, Police, Voluntary and Community Sectors).
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the key challenges and opportunities facing public services.
Proven track record of delivering economic growth in a complex environment and of project development, implementation, management, and monitoring.
Experience of preparing quality written material for a range of audiences and of internal/external communication, marketing, and social media.
