We are seeking an experienced and committed Year 2 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Burnley on a long-term basis. This role involves full classroom responsibilities and is ideal for a confident practitioner with a strong understanding of Key Stage 1, particularly Year 2 and SATs preparation.
Please note: This role is not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) due to the level of responsibility required.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in line with the KS1 curriculum
Take full responsibility for the Year 2 class, including assessment, tracking, and reporting progress
Prepare pupils effectively for Key Stage 1 SATs, ensuring high standards of attainment
Mark work and provide constructive feedback in line with school policies
Manage classroom behaviour effectively, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
Participate in staff meetings, parent consultations, and wider school activities
Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants, and senior leadership
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 1
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to work independently
Experience with planning, assessment, and delivering a full teaching timetable
Commitment to raising standards and pupil achievement
Desirable
Direct Year 2 teaching experience
Experience preparing pupils for KS1 SATs
Familiarity with phonics schemes and early reading frameworks
