We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Shipley. This is a full-time 1:1 role supporting a pre-verbal Year 2 pupil with an EHCP, based within the classroom environment.
The Role
Provide targeted 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs
Work within the mainstream classroom (not a specialist provision unit)
Deliver tailored SEN interventions to support communication, engagement, and learning
Support the child with intimate care needs in a respectful and sensitive manner
Build a strong, trusting relationship with both the pupil and their family
Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement strategies and plans
About You
Experience working with children with Autism (ASD) is highly desirable
Strong understanding of EHCPs and individualised support strategies
Patient, nurturing, and able to adapt approaches to meet complex needs
Confident supporting communication development, particularly with pre-verbal pupils
Committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Able to form positive, professional relationships with parents and staff
