Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Pay Rate: £100 – £150 per day (depending on experience)

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and welcoming primary school community in Greenwich. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HLTA to support high-quality teaching and make a meaningful impact on pupils’ academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging and effective lessons in line with the National Curriculum
- Lead whole-class teaching sessions in the absence of the class teacher where required
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all pupils
- Support the assessment, monitoring, and tracking of pupil progress
- Deliver targeted interventions and additional support to individuals and small groups, including pupils with SEND
- Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and staff
- Work collaboratively with teachers and wider school staff to support learning outcomes
- Ensure safeguarding and health & safety policies are followed at all times
- Contribute to wider school life, including meetings, planning, and development activities
Requirements:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
- Proven experience working within a primary school setting (Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2)
- Strong understanding of the National Curriculum
- Confidence delivering lessons and leading whole-class learning
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- A nurturing, patient, and proactive approach
- Ability to support and inspire young learners
- Good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and procedures
