Are you passionate about developing the next generation of HGV professionals? We’re seeking a dedicated HGV Skills Development Tutor to design, deliver and continually enhance high‑quality training that supports learners to achieve meaningful, long‑term career outcomes. This role is based at a modern Skills Centre in Trafford, with the flexibility of one day per week working from home.
About the Role
You will deliver engaging, high‑quality training to learners across a range of programmes and funding streams. Your work will help learners build essential knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes required for success in the transport and logistics sector.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with potential learners through open events, taster sessions and employer outreach to build caseloads.
Manage and retain a diverse learner and employer caseload, supporting progression and identifying opportunities to grow provision.
Plan and deliver high‑quality face‑to‑face and blended learning, adapting materials to suit varied learner needs.
Assess learner work, provide constructive feedback and set clear development goals.
Use accurate starting points to set meaningful targets and track learner progress effectively.
Monitor KSB (Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours) development, applying support strategies to ensure timely achievement.
Gather and act on learner and employer feedback to support continuous improvement.
Maintain high‑quality standards through CPD, internal quality assurance activities and compliance with safeguarding, health & safety and risk‑assessment requirements.
About You
Up‑to‑date specialist knowledge and relevant professional qualifications within the HGV or logistics sector.
Working towards or holding a Diploma in Education and Training (or equivalent).
Strong understanding of health and safety procedures, including emergency evacuation.
Able to motivate, inspire and positively influence learners.
Supportive, flexible and adaptable approach.
Competent user of Microsoft Office and confident with digital learning platforms.
Excellent communication, organisation and workload‑management skills.
Creative ability to design engaging, innovative training materials.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum five years’ vocational industry experience in a relevant specialist area.
Experience delivering to teaching and learning quality standards, including OFSTED requirements.
One to two years’ experience in teaching, learning and assessment.
Strong coaching skills to support learner development.
