I’m working with an established and growing engineering business that supports global OEMs across construction equipment, trucks, agriculture, and wider industrial markets. With a strong international presence (UK, USA, Germany, Sweden, India, China), they’re continuing to invest in their UK engineering capability.
They’re now looking to bring in a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support a pipeline of innovative projects—particularly within engine ancillaries and emerging e-pump technologies.
The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll play a key part in both concept and detailed design, working closely with a collaborative engineering team and engaging with customers and suppliers.
Key responsibilities:
Design and development of engine ancillaries (oil, water & fuel pumps)
Concept and detailed design of e-pumps for data centre applications
First-principles design and problem-solving across new product development
Create 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings
Ensure designs are optimised for manufacture (DFM focus)
Support DFMEA activities and engineering validation
Work closely with the Chief Engineer and cross-functional teams to resolve design challenges
Produce technical reports and documentation
Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
What They’re Looking For
Essential:
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
Minimum 5 years’ industry experience in a design-focused role
Strong 3D CAD skills (ideally Creo)
Experience designing with metals and plastics
Solid understanding of GD&T
Experience with DFMEA and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
Background working on electromechanical products
Desirable:
Experience with rotating components (bearings, seals, gears, pulleys)
Exposure to concept design and new product development
