Join Kirklees' Council's dedicated team as a Housing Manager, where you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Neighbourhood Housing Service Manager and Housing Services Strategic Manager to achieve the organisation's objectives. This role involves a variety of functions within Homes and Neighbourhoods, including Neighbourhood Management, Income Management, Customer Support, and more. You will also deputise for the Neighbourhood Housing Service Manager and support other Housing Managers as required.
Day-to-day of the role:
Lead and manage a customer-focused holistic housing and neighbourhood management service, ensuring high performance and excellent service delivery in areas such as income collection, empty homes, tenancy management, and partnership working.
Coordinate the work of the service area, ensuring resources are available where and when they are needed.
Deliver effective line management to staff, providing support and guidance, especially in managing complex cases such as antisocial behaviour, debt management, and mental health challenges.
Undertake formal duties in relation to housing legislation, housing fraud, debt, leaseholders, and leasehold services.
Plan, coordinate, and deploy resources and workload appropriately to meet team and business demands.
Work collaboratively with Neighbourhood Service Managers and other Housing Managers to monitor, analyse, and deliver improvements.
Prepare professional and clearly written papers and communications on key issues, such as formal complaints, to ensure accurate information is included.
Present verbal or written reports to the service area Management Team and Homes and Neighbourhoods Senior Leadership Team as required.
Ensure performance reporting is up to date and reflective of current standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience in housing management or a related field.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Ability to handle complex cases and provide guidance on housing legislation and related issues.
Excellent planning and resource deployment skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present reports.
Collaborative and proactive in improving service delivery.
