A public sector organisation based in Maidenhead is seeking an experienced Business Improvement Manager to support their Housing and Public Protection service on an initial 3-month contract.
This is a key role within the senior management team, focused on driving service improvement, overseeing performance, and leading transformation activity across housing and public protection.
You will take ownership of business support functions, lead on performance and governance, and play a central role in improving service delivery and compliance.
This is an initial 3-month contract with an hourly rate of up to £39.99 per hour via an Umbrella company inside IR35 (PAYE rates also available). The role is based in Maidenhead with hybrid working available (1 or 2 days per week in the office).
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Business Support, Performance, and Complaints functions
Drive and oversee service improvement and transformation initiatives, including ICT and systems projects
Oversee performance reporting, data analysis, and dashboard development
Manage complaints, FOIs, member enquiries, and statutory reviews
Ensure strong governance, policies, and operational procedures
Support legal appeals and Ombudsman responses where required
Monitor contracts and ensure delivery against budget and performance targets
Deputise for the Assistant Director as required

You will have:
Proven experience in housing, public protection, or local authority services
Strong track record of driving service improvement and managing transformation projects
Experience managing teams, performance, and budgets
Excellent understanding of complaints handling, governance, and compliance
Strong analytical and reporting skills, with experience using performance data to drive decisions
Ability to operate at senior stakeholder level, including working with elected members
