Information Governance Officer (FOI) – Temporary Ongoing Contract
Location: Oxford City Council (Hybrid Working) Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm Pay Rate:
£19.16 per hour (PAYE)
£21.47 per hour (Umbrella) Start Date: Immediate until at least July
Overview
Oxford City Council is seeking an experienced Information Governance Officer (FOI) for an immediate start on an ongoing temporary assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled FOI professional to join a busy local authority environment and play a key role in ensuring compliance with information governance legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and coordinate responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, incorporating input from multiple council departments
Manage FOI requests and contributions in line with statutory deadlines and legislation
Conduct internal reviews relating to information governance and FOI requests
Handle and respond to ICO complaints and referrals made against the Council
Provide expert advice and guidance on information governance and data protection matters across the organisation
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection regulations
Requirements
Proven experience in a similar Information Governance / FOI role, ideally within a local authority or public sector setting
Strong understanding of FOI legislation, GDPR, and data protection principles
Experience managing ICO complaints and internal reviews
Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet strict deadlines
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience using eCase (desirable)
