Join our client’s dedicated team as an Emergency Call Handler!
As the first point of contact for patients experiencing medical emergencies, you play a crucial role in delivering timely advice and care. This position requires a high level of emotional intelligence and resilience to support callers through both physical and mental health emergencies.
Day-to-day of the role:
Emergency Calls: Answer emergency calls from the public and other services, triaging via the Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD) and adhering to the Advanced Medical Priority Dispatch System (AMPDS) policies.
Healthcare Professional Urgent Calls: Respond to urgent calls from GPs and other healthcare professionals, using the HCP Questionnaire to determine the appropriate response.
General Enquiries: Handle general enquiries and calls from other services, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
Welfare Checks: Conduct welfare calls as directed by the EMD Team Leader, coordinating with the Navigation Assistant and CSD Team.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate control records and ensure that notes taken during calls are detailed and comply with Trust policies.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with EOC colleagues, supporting new EMD entrants and participating in professional development activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Certification: Must pass and maintain regulatory body certification.
Resilience: Ability to handle distressing calls with compassion and empathy.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Teamwork: Experience working collaboratively in a high-pressure environment.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using dispatch and communication systems.
