Maintenance Technician (Electrical Bias)

📍 Location: Sydenham (Primary) with travel across SE London

🕒 Hours: 37.5 per week (8–4 or 9–5, early finish Friday)

Overview

Join a purpose-driven organisation supporting vital community and healthcare services. This is a varied, hands-on role for an Electrical Maintenance Technician to support a healthcare site in Sydenham alongside ~25 retail locations across South East London.

You’ll be the lead electrical specialist on site, working autonomously with strong support from an experienced multi-skilled team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver PPM and reactive maintenance across electrical systems
  • Diagnose faults and carry out efficient repairs
  • Complete minor installations (e.g. lighting upgrades)
  • Provide electrical sign-off across site
  • Support general maintenance tasks where required
  • Attend call-outs across healthcare and retail sites
  • Manage contractors and ensure compliance
  • Use CAFM/BMS systems to manage workload
  • Maintain safe and compliant working standards

Working Environment

  • Main base: Sydenham healthcare site
  • Additional sites: Orpington + retail stores (e.g. Dulwich, St Paul’s Cray)
  • Team: Growing to 4 engineers
  • You’ll be the sole electrical specialist, supported by 2 experienced engineers

Salary & Package

  • Salary: £41,384
  • On-call (1 in 3):
    • £86 standby per week
    • Double time for call-outs
    • Estimated £1,500–£3,000 extra annually

Requirements

  • Level 3 Electrical qualification (C&G or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Completed apprenticeship
  • Strong fault-finding and maintenance experience
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership

Desirable

  • Multi-skilled maintenance experience
  • Experience in healthcare, FM or retail
  • BMS/BEMS knowledge
  • Previous on-call experience
