Assistant Duty Manager

  • Location: East Sussex - Newhaven
  • Hours: 35 per week (including weekends and bank holidays on rota)
  • Salary: £30,000 FTE
  • Immediate start 

This role is working for a Charity based in Newhaven, East Sussex. Key responsibilities for this role include Supporting van drivers and moving stock around the store, supporting customers in the store and managing day to day operations. The role is looking for someone who ideally could have started yesterday so if your immediately available then please apply now.

Ideal criteria for this role is a Duty Manger within a warehouse, who has strong people management skills and health and safety compliance.  They need to have a retail experience and charity background would be advantageous.

Day-to-day of the role:

Sales & Service:

  • Maintain high standards of merchandising, pricing, and presentation.
  • Support sales growth through social media engagement and local promotions.
  • Ensure efficient stock rotation and maximise Gift Aid participation.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to enhance visitor experience.

Operations & Performance:

  • Assist in achieving sales, profit, and budget targets.
  • Support cost control measures and local marketing activities.
  • Ensure accurate administration and compliance with organisational procedures.

Stock & Logistics:

  • Manage stock intake, processing, and storage efficiently.
  • Support donations and build local partnerships to enhance stock collection.
  • Oversee vehicle operations and ensure stock collection targets are met.
  • Ensure safe processing of electricals and furniture, adhering to safety standards.

People Management:

  • Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of staff and volunteers.
  • Promote a positive, high-performing team culture within the warehouse.

Health & Safety:

  • Maintain safe, compliant premises and operations.
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety regulations and maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Act as a key holder and respond to emergencies as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Retail or customer-facing experience is essential.
  • Must possess a full UK driving licence.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills.
  • Experience in cash handling and administration.
  • Flexible working approach, including availability to work weekends.
  • Supervisory or management experience is desirable.
  • Background in charity retail or warehouse operations is advantageous.
  • Knowledge in merchandising, Gift Aid, or marketing is beneficial.

This opportunity is permanent, and office based and both part-time and full-time applications will be considered. The Payroll Officer will be responsible for processing salaries while ensuring accurate and timely payments and maintaining records.
