We are working with a well-established and fast-paced organisation looking to appoint a Credit Controller to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with existing credit control experience who enjoys building relationships, managing their own ledger, and driving cash collection performance.
The Role
You will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debt while minimizing risk and maintaining strong customer relationships.
This is a varied role where you will be at the heart of the business, working closely with both internal teams and external clients.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively chase outstanding payments via phone, email, and other channels
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all customer interactions
Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies
Monitor credit limits and ensure they remain appropriate
Manage and review credit-stopped orders, taking necessary action
Identify changes in customer payment behaviour and escalate risks
Log and resolve customer queries in a timely manner
Process new account applications and support credit decision-making
Support with ad hoc finance and credit control projects
About You
Minimum 1 year’s experience in Credit Control or similar finance role
Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with customers
Confident working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail
Proactive and positive, with a “can-do” attitude
Comfortable managing your own workload and prioritising effectively
Strong team player who thrives under pressure
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Good level of numeracy and literacy (GCSE Maths & English or equivalent)
Intermediate Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
Previous experience within an accounts or credit control environment
Strong customer service focus
Desirable:
Experience with credit control systems or ERP platforms
Exposure to credit checking tools and risk assessment processes
Professional credit qualifications or willingness to study (e.g., CICM)
