To co-ordinate and support entry pathways and career progression pathways such as the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme for all Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW’s), Practice Educators (PE), Apprentices, Student Programme, and Return to Social Work candidates (RSW).
Key Responsibilities
Deliver reflective individual and group supervision to NQSW’s and Apprentices in line with their specific programme requirements.
In partnership with the GMSWA project manager, identify mentors for RSW candidates and support mentors through the delivery of the RSW programme
Deliver the ASYE programme and support in its evaluation and development via an ASYE annual report. This will include providing assistance with portfolio completion where required, and the completion of final reports in partnership with line managers.
Complete formal direct observations of practice amongst the Apprentice and ASYE cohorts, in line with their specific programme requirements.
Mentor apprentices and work closely with university skills coaches to facilitate work-based learning requirements and complete assessment in practice with skills coach support.
Develop and ensure a culture of learning and provide advice, support and mentoring across the Practice Educators (PE), Apprentice, Students, Return to Social Work candidates (RSW), ASYE cohort and wider workforce at events such as practice weeks and staff engagement sessions
Support the Workforce Development Manager in the delivery of the PE programme. This will include the mentoring of Practice Educators, directing Stage 1 and Stage 2 Practice Educators to relevant MELearning and masterclasses, the quality assurance of Practice Educator portfolios, and offering any advice relating to social work student practice concerns.
Co-ordinate and deliver the induction programme
Contribute to the delivery of recruitment assessment days, and represent and champion Bolton council at external awareness/recruitment events such as careers fairs and exhibitions
Deliver against the workforce development strategy as required
Champion and role model Bolton Children’s Services Practice Approach, Practice Standards, and Bolton Council’s Corporate Values
Support the link officer for RIP in the sharing of information across the workforce
Support in the delivery of workforce training needs
Ensure quality personal development reviews (PDRs) are undertaken across the workforce, including dip sampling of the same
About You
3 years plus Qualified Social Worker, ideally with supervisory experience.
Ability to understand and apply ILACS framework and evaluation criteria.
Ability to apply relational and restorative approaches to practice.
Experience of supporting the learning and development of others.
Experience of working with professional staff to support them to deliver high quality work.
Qualifications and Experience
Extensive post qualification experience of statutory social work, including experience of working with professional staff to support them to deliver high quality work.
Recognised Social Work Qualification.
Registration with Social Work England.
Full-time post – 37 hour per week
We operate a hybrid working arrangement, however candidates must be able to be office based in Bolton to meet service needs.
