We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Caretaker to join our team, supporting the aims and values of our school. This role requires a hard-working, honest, and self-motivated individual who can manage both caretaking and cleaning responsibilities effectively.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Ensure the security of the school premises, including closing gates, setting alarms, and overall locking duties.
  • Perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, and dusting designated areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Conduct general upkeep of the school, including minor repairs and maintenance, and preparing the building for school functions or lettings.
  • Manage waste and recycling initiatives, ensuring all refuse is disposed of promptly and appropriately.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance, ensuring paths and entrances are safe and presentable.
  • Support the management of school facilities, including monitoring heating and lighting, and maintaining the school minibus as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in caretaking or a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Competence in minor DIY repairs and maintenance.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Awareness of safeguarding procedures and the commitment to promoting these within the school.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to varying tasks.
