About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and organised Business Support Officer to join the Housing Adaptations & Grants Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract for a Local Authority in Berkshire. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of essential housing services that make a real difference to the community.

You will provide efficient administrative, technical, and customer-focused support to ensure the smooth running of the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer enquiries via email, telephone, and written correspondence
  • Input and maintain accurate data on service databases
  • Process customer applications, ensuring validation and completeness
  • Generate reports and assist with Freedom of Information and statistical requests
  • Manage shared mailboxes and allocate enquiries appropriately
  • Support financial processes, including processing invoices and related documentation
  • Arrange meetings, prepare agendas, and take meeting minutes when required
  • Maintain electronic and physical records, including scanning, filing, and document management
  • Liaise with internal departments and external agencies to support service delivery
  • Assist with updating website content and maintaining accurate information
  • Ensure compliance with Data Protection, confidentiality, and council policies
  • Provide cover and support across the wider business support team when required

About You

We are looking for an individual who has:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience working in a customer-facing or administrative role
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively
  • Experience using IT systems, databases, and Microsoft Office
  • An understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles
  • A proactive and flexible approach to teamwork
