A well-established and growing business is looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented individual to gain broad exposure across transactional and management accounting, working closely with senior finance support in a fast-paced environment.
Role Overview
You will support the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring accurate financial records and contributing to the production of key financial information. The role offers a varied workload and the chance to get involved in both routine processes and ongoing improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Maintain and reconcile ledger accounts
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and prepayments
Carry out bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies
Manage aspects of accounts receivable, including invoicing and credit control
Provide support across accounts payable when required
Process supplier invoices and maintain effective payment processes
Monitor outstanding balances and liaise with customers where needed
Assist with payroll-related processes and reconciliations
Support VAT returns preparation and submission
Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
Assist with audit preparation and year-end processes
Produce financial reports and analysis for internal stakeholders
Ensure accurate and well-organised financial documentation
Contribute to improving systems, controls, and finance processes
About You
Prior experience in a finance or accounting-based role
Exposure to accounting systems (ERP experience advantageous)
AAT qualified or working towards qualification (or equivalent)
Strong numerical and analytical ability
Confident using Excel and finance systems
High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
Well-organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
A proactive team player with good communication skills
