Reporting to: Accounts Manager
Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our growing practice. This role is ideal for someone who is AAT Level 3 qualified (or equivalent) and looking to build on their experience within an accountancy practice.
You will gain hands-on exposure across accounts preparation, VAT, and basic tax compliance, with structured support to progress through AAT Level 4.

Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns
Assist with management accounts and periodic reporting
Provide support on corporation tax computations (under supervision)
Assist with basic personal tax returns
Maintain accurate client records and working papers
Liaise with clients to request information and respond to routine queries
Support senior team members in meeting deadlines
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the practice
Experience & Skills
AAT Level 3 qualified (or equivalent)
Previous experience in an accountancy practice (preferred but not essential)
Basic understanding of accounts preparation and VAT
Exposure to cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Eagerness to learn and progress professionally
Ability to work to deadlines in a structured environment
