Average turnaround is 5 days. Third-party checks may take 10–15 working days or longer.

Employers are responsible for verifying a right to work document and two eligible DBS documents—one of which must confirm the candidate’s current address to meet BPSS guidelines. The right to work document can count as one of the DBS documents.

BPSS checks require the following:

  • Proof of identity (e.g. valid passport or driving licence)

  • Right to work documentation

  • Criminal record check

  • Employment history covering the past 3 years

  • One document confirming the candidate’s current address
