Our advisers are very special individuals with a wealth of industry experience and a genuine interest in the development of others. Each one of them works hard to ensure their CIPD candidates are supported throughout every step of their qualification. Our advisers really do ensure our business retains that personal touch, something we know our candidates greatly value, so we would like to publicly recognise their contribution to your CIPD success!

Here we ask Reed Learning’s L&D expert Joseph Grech for his advice to help you get CIPD qualified along with what he loves most about his job.

Joseph’s top tips for CIPD success – If you can, get cracking on your assignment the day after a workshop!
  • Put some time aside the day after you have attended a workshop so you can work on your CIPD assignment when the learning is fresh in your mind. If you leave it for a month, it’s going to be much more difficult to remember all the knowledge you gained in the classroom!

  • Get involved in social learning platforms. Join forums on LinkedIn that complement the units you are working on and read the conversations to find out the current challenges organisations are facing and how your learning can be applied in practice. This up-to-date information will help with your assignment.

Here’s what our candidates say about Joseph:

I really enjoy Joseph’s workshops. He makes everything make sense and gives us a great grounding in each subject which in turn gives us the confidence to embark upon the assignments.

Jen Fountain, Level 5 Candidate

Joseph was excellent, engaging and informative. The exercises and activities kept the day fresh. It was a very enjoyable day and I am looking forward to the remainder of the workshops.

Sarah McKnight, Level 5 Candidate

Joseph was incredibly engaging and created a learning environment in which people felt at ease to answer questions and offer opinions straight away. He broke the syllabus into easy to digest sections and I feel much more confident and capable to write the assignments. It was also refreshing and valuable to mix with L&D professionals and gain knowledge, insight and recommendations from outside of my industry. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable day and I can’t wait for the next one.

Steven McCormick, Level 5 Candidate

Joseph was very engaging, approachable and supportive. He made the sessions very interactive and experiential and was very inclusive in his approach tailoring the course to our learning styles.

Natasha Fay, Foundation candidate

When it comes to Learning and Development, there is little that Joseph doesn’t know! Since graduating with a Masters in Psychology, he has spent the last 15 years specialising in L&D working for a range of companies and sectors. His experience is varied and includes spells with the global retailer Kingfisher plc where he was responsible for integrating L&D throughout the Group. He currently runs his own L&D consultancy facilitating leadership programmes whilst also coaching mid to senior management, typically using cognitive behavioural approaches, supporting people overcome limiting beliefs, build resilience and confidence.

At Reed Learning, Joseph is instrumental in driving the CIPD L&D agenda. As well as being very much involved in the delivery of L&D workshops at all levels, he also informs and supports other advisers on the latest best practice in the industry.

As a specialist in learning, Joseph is very much involved in Reed Learning’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and is a regular host of our HR Learning Bites webinars and podcasts.

Being passionate about all things L&D, it’s not surprising that the subject is what Joseph loves most about his job. In addition, he enjoys meeting new people who really want to drive change in L&D and supporting our future generation become great L&D leaders!
