Providing industry-leading training is something that we aspire to deliver at REED. I’m delighted that our apprenticeship programme is now a key part of this and that we’ve had our first apprentices complete successfully and all with distinction.

James Reed

We caught up with Casey and Stephen to find out how the experience has been for them and how they are implementing the skills they have developed on the programme…

How important do you think it is having the Apprenticeship team in-house, rather than outsourced?

Casey: “Very! The Trainers and Apprenticeship Business Partners were always available to offer advice. Having Sophie Morris as a Trainer, for example, who knows the company and could give real life examples of how she had used the topics and methods she was training within REED, was really helpful. This made the training easily understandable and relatable.”

How did your team support you during the programme?

Stephen: “My team supported me throughout the programme, giving me time to complete each exercise. We also made a team within our first Apprenticeship Programme session that I still meet up with!”

How will you put into practice some of the skills learnt throughout the programme?

Casey: “Certain aspects of the training such as the ‘Effective Questioning’ and ‘Listening and Communication Styles’ were really helpful for me in my role straight away. I found myself categorising hiring managers I spoke to often, by their styles and attempting to tailor my conversations with them accordingly.”

We are delighted to see our very first apprentices achieve a Distinction grade at their End Point Assessment. Their achievement at this level underpins our belief that the apprenticeship training offered by Reed is of a high quality standard that supports the development and up-skilling of our co-members.

With the Apprenticeship Programme in Recruitment now a core part of the offering at REED, the Apprenticeship Team are looking at options for further apprentice entry-routes, including areas such as Information Technology and Business Administration.
