A family-run company, with family values
When we say Reed is a family company, we mean it. Founded by Sir Alec Reed in 1960, and led by his son James Reed since 1997, family lies at the heart of everything we do. No matter how much we grow or how much the world changes, our values as a family, and as a company, remain the same.
What we do
Reed began as a recruitment company all the way back in 1960, and since then we’ve helped millions of people find work, but we’ve also helped improve people’s lives in other ways as well…
Supporting the long-term unemployed
We all know how challenging it can be to land a new job, but for certain groups within our communities, this challenge can feel almost impossible to overcome.
That’s where Reed in Partnership comes in. Reed in Partnership (and its sister company Reed Wellbeing) helps those who have been unemployed for a long time get back on their feet and into work through award winning services and programmes.

A huge part of improving lives through work is helping people and companies improve their skills. In a world where the market and technology are constantly changing, developing the right skills is essential.

Raising millions for charities across the globe
The Reed Group is 18% owned by the Reed Foundation, which means one fifth of our profits are donated to charities around the world. The Reed Foundation also funds the Big Give, a match-funding platform which allows funders to match donations given by the public through the Big Give.

The Reed Foundation is a charity set up by the founder of Reed, Sir Alec Reed in 1972. Over the past 10 years, the foundation has donated over £9.5 million to a wide variety of charities from a multitude of sectors, including environment and social mobility organisations here in the UK. Its purpose is to give back to the communities we work in and inspire a tradition of charitable giving as a company and with our co-members.
